A registered sex offender was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in federal prison for sending child pornography from public computers at the main library in Downtown El Paso, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Berry Jay Miller, 34, pleaded guilty in August in U.S. District Court to a distribution of child pornography charge.
Records show Miller, whose address was listed as the Opportunity Center for the Homeless, was previously convicted of indecency with an 8-year-old girl and online solicitation of a minor.
In late February, Miller emailed pornographic photos of young girls to an undercover FBI agent chatting with him on a website frequented by pedophiles, according to a criminal complaint. The document stated that Miller gave the agent his real name, a photo and his email. The email was tracked to the library.
On March 6, Miller gave El Paso police the same email while updating his sex offender registration, the complaint stated. He told police he checked his email at the library. FBI agents arrested Miller four days later.
